Political Masterstroke — Nwuche Reveals How Wike’s Rainbow Coalition Could Boost Tinubu

Former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and Chairman of the South-South Development Commission, Chibudom Nwuche, has praised Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for what he described as his political creativity and strategic approach.

According to Bush Radio Academy, Nwuche said Wike’s initiative, known as the Rainbow Coalition, had expanded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s political support base ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

In a statement made available to journalists on Monday, Nwuche also commended Wike’s performance as FCT minister, describing his political initiative as an important development in the build-up to the 2027 elections.

He described the Rainbow Coalition as a political masterstroke capable of creating a bridge across party lines and providing an avenue for politicians and other political stakeholders to support Tinubu’s re-election without necessarily abandoning their respective political parties.

Nwuche argued that the coalition had created an opportunity for individuals and groups outside the ruling party to identify with Tinubu’s re-election bid while maintaining their membership of opposition parties.

The former deputy speaker rejected claims that expanding the president’s support base through the coalition could hurt Tinubu’s chances in 2027. According to him, such an argument fails to recognise the role political alliances play in elections.

He maintained that every additional constituency, political stakeholder and community that supports the president could strengthen his electoral prospects rather than weaken them.

Nwuche also dismissed claims that the Rainbow Coalition had created confusion over the political situation in Rivers State. He insisted that there was no uncertainty regarding the coalition’s choice of consensus governorship candidate in the state.

He said members of the coalition would work to mobilise support for Tinubu, the coalition’s governorship candidate and candidates contesting National and State Assembly seats during the 2027 general elections.

Nwuche further stated that members of the Rainbow Coalition would replicate the same political strategy in other states across the country, describing the alliance as a significant boost to Tinubu’s re-election prospects.

He expressed confidence that the coalition would continue to attract political stakeholders and expand the president’s support base as the 2027 election approaches.
