The media aide to the 2027 presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (African Democratic Congress), Atiku Abubakar, Abdulrasheed Shehu, has stated that the joint ticket between his principal and former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, is already settled.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

His clarification follows earlier confusion and mixed reports regarding the party’s vice-presidential pick ahead of the 2027 general election.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Shehu explained that the delay in formally announcing Amaechi as the running mate is due to Atiku’s current travel schedule.

He wrote: “Atiku/Amaechi is settled. His Excellency is on a short business trip. Once he returns, Amaechi will be officially unveiled in a few days as the VP candidate. Stop posting fake news.”

Meanwhile, a chieftain of the ADC, Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has criticised former actor and politician Kenneth Okonkwo over his reaction to the party’s reported vice-presidential choice.

Atiku Abubakar is said to have picked Rotimi Amaechi as his running mate for the 2027 presidential election.

However, Okonkwo had opposed the decision, arguing that it would amount to continued political marginalisation of the South-East, which has not produced a president or vice president since 1999.

Responding in a statement on Tuesday, Eze dismissed Okonkwo’s comments, describing them as “misguided and unfortunate.”

He further accused Okonkwo of misunderstanding political processes, suggesting that he treats politics like acting in Nollywood films.
