The event, which took place at the Rainbow Events Centre, drew over 3,000 delegates and political stakeholders as the party ramped up preparations for the 2027 general elections.
Also in attendance were former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi, ex-Osun State governor Rauf Aregbesola, and the party’s National Chairman, Senator David Mark.
With the theme “So the Nation May Work,” the convention centred on fostering unity within the party and mapping out strategies ahead of the next general elections.
Party leaders deliberated on restructuring the party’s leadership and completing outstanding state congresses.
As part of its agenda, the ADC is expected to elect a new National Working Committee and resolve lingering organisational issues across various states.
Delegates from across the country continued to arrive throughout the day, with accreditation ongoing at the venue.
Security was tightened to ensure the smooth conduct of the gathering.
The convention held despite earlier setbacks related to venue arrangements, as party officials had claimed they were denied access to locations such as Eagle Square and the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, which they alleged was an attempt to hinder the event.
The gathering also comes amid an internal leadership tussle within the party, with factions led by David Mark and Nafiu Bala Gombe both laying claim to control.
Due to the dispute and ongoing court cases, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has temporarily withheld formal recognition of either faction pending a judicial resolution.
The ADC was adopted in July 2025 as a coalition platform for opposition figures aiming to challenge President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections.
