As previously reported, the singer was arrested on Sunday in Abeokuta, Ogun State, by operatives of the Kwara State Police Command.

Confirming the arrest, the spokesperson of the Command, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, explained in a statement that Portable was apprehended following a petition filed against him. The petition includes serious allegations such as criminal defamation, threats to life, incitement, character assassination, conduct likely to incite public disturbance, and the use of offensive language.

The petition was lodged by one Mr. Okunola Saheed, widely known as “Saheed Osupa.”

Speaking to journalists after the court session, Portable’s legal counsel, Isaac Adebayo, confirmed the bail approval and said efforts were underway to fulfill the court’s conditions. Aside from the monetary requirement, the court also demanded that Portable present the chairman of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN) in Kwara State and an individual who owns a landed property in the GRA area of Ilorin as sureties.
