Reports indicate that Shobowale has been away from office for over six months due to medical reasons, with efforts to facilitate her return proving unsuccessful. This situation has allegedly stalled governance within the council.
Governor Sanwo-Olu’s decision was also driven by concerns over an impending financial crisis, as the chairman’s absence had delayed the presentation of the 2025 budget before the council lawmakers, as required by law.
The leadership transition was facilitated by the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), led by its chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi, to ensure administrative stability and effective grassroots governance.
In his reaction to the appointment, Oluwaloni expressed gratitude to Governor Sanwo-Olu and the party leadership for their confidence in him. He pledged to serve diligently, prioritize the welfare of Ayobo-Ipaja residents, and uphold continuity in governance.
