expressing concern over the influx of unfamiliar individuals causing heightened tension, particularly in Keffi Local Government Area.

The governor, who recently filed an appeal challenging the tribunal’s judgment in favor of David Ombugadu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), made the plea during an expanded security meeting at the Government House.

He commended the maturity and tolerance shown by the people of Nasarawa State post-tribunal judgment and emphasized the need for continued restraint as the Court of Appeal session nears.

The meeting also addressed recurring attacks on farmers by suspected herders in six local government areas: Nasarawa, Doma, Akwanga, Keana, Obi, and Awe.

Governor Sule expressed his willingness to collaborate with traditional rulers to enhance grassroots security, urging them to re-engage local vigilante groups, citing positive past results.

Concerning security challenges, Sule highlighted the influx of strangers causing tension, criminal hideouts at the riverside in Karu Local Government Area, and the presence of suspected drug peddlers and sleeper cells in Nasarawa, Taraba, and Kaduna.

The governor appealed to traditional rulers to resume engaging local vigilante groups, acknowledging the effectiveness of such collaborations in the past.

“We have relaxed on that, mostly on the part of the government. We are going back to engage all those security groups to work with our people,” he affirmed.

During the meeting, Governor Sule praised the security agencies for maintaining peace, law, and order in the state. He also commended their efforts in conducting successful rescue operations for kidnapping victims.
