The Presidency has accused the 2027 presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, of repeatedly making claims about threats to his life as part of a political strategy.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The allegation was made by President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Communications, Daniel Bwala, while reacting to Obi’s recent remarks in Berlin, Germany, where the former Anambra State governor claimed there was an attempt on his life during a planned visit to Benue State in April 2025.

In a post on his verified account on Saturday, Bwala dismissed Obi’s allegation, describing it as false and accusing the former presidential candidate of resorting to sensational claims for political purposes.

According to the presidential aide, Obi had also made similar allegations in the past, including claims that officials at a Nigerian airport threatened his life.

Bwala argued that the airport incident had nothing to do with intimidation, insisting that Obi was merely challenged for allegedly violating airport traffic regulations.

The presidential spokesman accused Obi of repeatedly making what he described as false claims and suggested that his latest comments about his safety were aimed at galvanising members of the Obidient Movement against perceived political opponents.

“The desperation of Peter Obi is palpable. He recently travelled to Europe and was quoted to have alleged that the Governor of Benue wanted to kill him. Imagine lies from someone who said he wants to govern a country like Nigeria,” Bwala wrote.

“The other day, he falsely accused airport officials of threatening his life when, in fact, he violated airport traffic rules.

“Lately, his newfound allegation on life may appear to be his strategy to use his Obidient movement to threaten people’s lives like they have been doing on us,” he added.

Bwala’s comments came in response to Obi’s recent allegations regarding his security and treatment by public officials, further intensifying the ongoing exchange between the Presidency and the former Labour Party presidential candidate.
