This development was confirmed in a memo issued by the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF). The memo, signed by Dr. Emmanuel Meribole on behalf of the examination committee, invites the 11 directors to the oral interview stage of the appointment process.

Earlier in October, the Federal Government, through the OHCSF, initiated the appointment process for new permanent secretaries to fill vacancies across eight states. A memorandum dated October 7, 2024, and signed by the Head of Civil Service, Didi Walson-Jack, also specified that individuals currently under disciplinary action are ineligible to apply for the permanent secretary positions.

The initial stage of the process saw 38 directors participating, with 19 making it through to the second stage. Of those 19, 11 were selected for the third and final stage, which includes an oral interview.

Once the recruitment process is completed, President Tinubu is expected to announce the newly appointed permanent secretaries.
