“This administration has no intention of restricting the press, but press freedom also comes with responsibility. While the press should have the freedom to do their job, it is important to exercise that freedom responsibly,” the Minister stated.

Addressing the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Idris emphasized that his ministry is entrusted with the Renewed Hope agenda of the current administration, with the NOA serving as the launch pad for the campaign.

The Minister noted that the agency is responsible for national orientation, safeguarding national values and symbols that reflect the country’s shared heritage.

He explained that the agency has a duty to preserve those symbols and values for the benefit of future generations. The Minister also unveiled plans for a national discussion on value reorientation in Nigeria, emphasizing the importance of character, a value that influences all aspects of national life.

“Every time I discuss the mission of the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation, the focus is always on national orientation or reorientation.

Without returning to those core values that we are known for, Nigeria is not likely to progress. One of the reasons is the gradual erosion of the values left to us by our founding fathers,” he noted.
