In his post, Shettima shared details of his attendance at the wedding of Dr. Aishatu Kwankwaso, daughter of former Kano State Governor Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, and Fahad, the son of business mogul Alhaji Dahiru Mangal. The wedding, which took place at the palace of the “16th Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II,” was conducted by the Chief Imam of Kano, Prof. Sani Zahraddeen. Shettima also conveyed his well wishes to the newlyweds.

However, after some reactions from social media users, Shettima edited the third paragraph, removing Sanusi’s name. The revised post now reads, “The wedding which took place at the Kano Emir’s palace, was conducted by the Chief Imam of Kano, Prof. Sani Zahraddeen.”

Following the post, several social media users shared their thoughts. Khalid Isah Umar commented, “We can now openly say SLS is the Emir of Kano State.” Others, like @Alhassan Ali Lawan, expressed their gratitude for Shettima’s recognition of Sanusi as the 16th Emir, while @Musa Kabir praised the Vice President for uniting the country and acknowledging Sanusi’s leadership.

Other reactions included @Yusuf Lawan, who expressed joy at Shettima’s acknowledgment of Sanusi as the Emir, and @Suraj Bala Imam, who found humor in the “16th Emir of Kano” title. Meanwhile, @Babangida Adam Yusuf noted that the recognition now solidifies Sanusi’s position as the Emir, both at the state and federal levels.

Despite the social media buzz, Shettima’s statement has added to the ongoing debate surrounding the leadership of the Kano Emirate.
