Governor Oborevwori expressed his concern regarding the encroaching erosion in the riverine areas of the oil-rich Niger Delta region.
He stressed the importance of addressing road infrastructure challenges and cited the establishment of agencies like the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and the Ministry of Niger Delta as specific entities tasked with focusing on the development of the Niger Delta.
During a courtesy visit by the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Abubakar Momoh, and his delegation at the Government House in Asaba, Governor Oborevwori reiterated the need for collaboration between the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs and state governments to ensure that the region benefits from quality projects during the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
He recalled a recent visit by the Minister of Works, David Umahi, who assessed the condition of federal roads in the state, including the Warri-Benin Road and the East-West Road. The governor acknowledged the challenges faced in these areas and highlighted the deteriorating state of the road to Port Harcourt.
Governor Oborevwori underscored the critical role played by the Niger Delta region in generating the nation’s wealth, emphasizing that it was essential for the government to prioritize attention and investment in this resource-rich region.
