In a statement released on Sunday, TCN spokesperson Ndidi Mbah confirmed that power has been restored after successfully connecting the new Bauchi 330/132kV Transmission Substation to the national grid via the 330kV and 132kV Jos-Bauchi-Gombe transmission lines.
“The transmission lines were temporarily shut down to allow for the energisation of the new Bauchi Substation—one of the largest in the region,” Mbah explained.
She added, “The lines have now been reconnected, and power supply to the North-East resumed on June 19 at approximately 4:45 pm.”
With this development, bulk electricity has been restored to the Jos and Yola Electricity Distribution Companies, which serve customers in Bauchi, Gombe, Yobe, Damaturu, Adamawa, and Taraba States.
The integration of the new substation into the national grid is expected to significantly improve power stability, provide alternative transmission pathways, and strengthen emergency response in the region.
TCN expressed gratitude to residents for their patience during the blackout, which began on June 10, 2025.
