Reno Omokri Shouldn’t Be An Ambassador!’ – Arabambi Sparks Controversy Over Presidential List
Abayomi Arabambi, the factional National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party (LP), has voiced criticism over President Bola Tinubu’s nomination of former presidential spokesman Reno Omokri for an ambassadorial position.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Arabambi acknowledged that while most ambassadorial nominees were deserving, Omokri’s inclusion was questionable due to his past outspoken criticisms of the president.
In an interview with Arise News, Arabambi noted that the Nigerian Constitution grants the president the authority to nominate ambassadors, but stressed that such nominations require Senate confirmation to take effect.
He said, “The president has the prerogative to nominate ambassadors, and their credentials will be presented to the Senate for approval. I trust that the Akpabio-led Senate will handle this appropriately. We’ve seen similar situations with ministerial nominees, where some were returned.
“Despite the political uproar over some nominees, it’s important to remember that no one is above the Senate’s scrutiny. They will examine resumes publicly and make informed decisions.
“In my view, all the nominees are suitable, except one—Reno Omokri. While he is qualified, his history of publicly criticizing the president could work against him.”
