The assailants reportedly stormed the APC secretariat on Port Harcourt-Aba Road, destroying a large billboard and vandalizing the entrance gate and canopies that sheltered security personnel.
In a press briefing in Port Harcourt, Tony Okocha, Caretaker Committee Chairman of APC in Rivers State, condemned the attack, suggesting it was orchestrated by individuals threatened by the party’s growing influence in the state. Okocha claimed the incident was a deliberate attempt to discredit President Bola Tinubu and make Rivers State a focal point of unrest.
He urged the Rivers State Police Command to enhance security around the party’s headquarters and criticized the selective targeting of the APC. Okocha emphasized that such acts of vandalism would not deter the party from advocating for the people of Rivers State or opposing what he described as a clueless government. He noted that similar attacks, like the one on the Rivers State House of Assembly, did not impede its operations and insisted that the APC would remain resilient despite these challenges.
