In an interview with Vanguard, Ambakederimo highlighted the potential severe repercussions of the standoff between Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike if not addressed promptly.
He emphasized that only Wike and Fubara have the power to end the crisis, noting that the ongoing political tension is significantly hindering governance and the continuity of state projects.
“The issues in Rivers State have unfortunately dragged on for too long, and if left unchecked, they could lead to serious consequences that might disrupt the political landscape,” Ambakederimo stated. “Now is the ideal time for these two key figures to resolve their differences. Only they can choose to address the situation if they truly care about the state.”
Regarding the recent court ruling that has prevented the Federal Government from disbursing allocations to Rivers Local Government, he remarked, “The judgment was based on what was presented in court and stands until it is reviewed by a higher court, should the Rivers State Government choose to appeal.”
He added, “We should not overreact on behalf of the state government, which knows the appropriate steps to take. The law should be allowed to run its course until a different outcome is reached.
