A prominent All Progressives Congress (APC) figure, Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has accused allies of Rivers State Minister Nyesom Wike of orchestrating a campaign of misinformation aimed at blocking the return of suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In a statement issued on Tuesday in Port Harcourt, Eze condemned what he termed a deliberate effort by Wike’s associates to discredit Fubara through false accusations. He specifically referred to a recent press conference held by George Nwaeke, the former Head of Service of Rivers State, who allegedly faced pressure to make damaging remarks against the Governor.
During the briefing, Nwaeke claimed Fubara was behind the fire that devastated the House of Assembly Complex, allegedly orchestrated through his Chief of Staff, Edison Ehie, and former Obio/Akpor Council Chairman, Chijioke Ihunwo. Nwaeke also accused Fubara of exacerbating the state’s political crisis and praised President Bola Tinubu for imposing emergency rule in the state.
However, a twist in the saga occurred when Nwaeke’s wife publicly dismissed her husband’s statements, revealing that he had been coerced into making them. She further explained that Nwaeke had been invited to Abuja by Ogidi, a loyalist of Wike and National Population Commission Commissioner, where he was pressured to sign a false document implicating Fubara in a fabricated $15 billion fraud. Nwaeke subsequently resigned as Head of Service.
Eze, in his statement, accused Wike of sabotaging reconciliation efforts in the state, counteracting President Tinubu’s push for stability. He claimed Wike’s primary goal was to keep Fubara out of office indefinitely, which he argued went against democratic principles and the wishes of Rivers residents.
Furthermore, Eze alleged that the Sole Administrator had been assigned the task of manufacturing false accusations against Fubara, with full media support, to prevent his reinstatement. “This will be a shame if we allow this injustice to succeed,” Eze warned.
Eze also commended Nwaeke’s wife for standing up for her husband’s integrity and protecting her family’s reputation. He called on President Tinubu to uphold the truth and resist the “false narratives” being spread by those aiming to undermine democracy for their personal gain.
