The Corps maintains that the act of answering calls while driving, irrespective of the type of wireless device employed, is against the law.
Bisi Kazeem, the Corps Public Education Officer, emphasized that driving demands complete concentration, and road users should not compromise their safety.
According to Kazeem, such actions are explicitly prohibited by Regulation 166(1), emphasizing the illegality of making phone calls using devices like EarPods earphones.
He clarified that the definition of a phone call extends beyond a conversation between two or more people and includes any activity that could distract a driver.
The FRSC actively discourages behaviors that could divert attention while driving, extending its caution even to interactions with passengers during public enlightenment campaigns.
