Melaye alleged that the judiciary has lost its independence and now functions as a department of the APC.

Melaye expressed, “The Judiciary itself has been on trial due to its tragic and glaring inability to inspire confidence and trust in its handling of electoral matters.

He emphasized that the judiciary appears to be a tool manipulated by powerful forces to undermine democracy in Nigeria.

According to him, the belief that the judiciary is the last hope of aggrieved citizens has become an empty slogan, as it is rapidly turning into the lost hope of the Nigerian people.

Melaye called on all opposition political parties to boycott future elections until the current INEC is dissolved, advocating for the appointment of a new set of nonpartisan Chairman and Commissioners.

He stated, “Participation in future pre-written election results under a morally and ethically challenged Prof Mahmood Yakubu Electoral Commission amounts to giving legitimacy to the continued rape of democracy in Nigeria.”

Explaining his decision not to approach the tribunal, Melaye expressed his reluctance to dignify a “captured judiciary.

He criticized the Kogi Governorship election, alleging that most results were written before the election day by INEC officials under the watch of Prof Mahmood Yakubu.

Melaye questioned the rationale of going to the tribunal when the judiciary has been compromised and when members of a political party openly challenge potential victims of their alleged rigging.

He drew parallels between the constitution of the State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC) by Governors with party members and supporters and the situation at the federal level with INEC.

Melaye pointed out the repetition of pre-written results in Local Government elections in Kogi and Imo States, illustrating what he perceives as a brazen application of such practices.
