Sh*ck In Town As APC Secretary Arrested Over Mysterious Death Of Female Food Vendor

The Yobe State Police Command has arrested one Abdulmumini Garba, over his alleged involvement in the death of 45-year-old food vendor, Falmata Abubakar, whose lifeless body was discovered near the Federal University Gashua (FUG) on Friday, October 17, 2025.

According to preliminary police investigations, the deceased’s body was transported in a vehicle and later dumped at the location where it was found.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Command’s spokesperson, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, confirmed that the suspect, Garba, serves as the Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Karasuwa Local Government Area and also holds the position of Secretary of the Vegetables Market (Kasuwan Gwari) in Gashua.

During interrogation, Garba reportedly confessed to conveying the deceased in his vehicle on the day of the incident. He claimed an argument broke out between them after Falmata requested financial support for her business.

The statement read in part:

“The altercation tragically resulted in her death inside the vehicle. Upon realizing she had passed, the suspect dumped her body in a nearby bush around 10:00 p.m. on the same day, at the exact spot where it was later discovered.”

SP Abdulkarim noted that the arrest followed intense intelligence gathering and swift tactical operations by officers of the Bade Division, describing the breakthrough as a reflection of the Command’s proactive crime-fighting efforts.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Ado, commended the investigating team for their professionalism and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to ensuring justice is served.

He assured the public that the case would be diligently investigated and prosecuted in court upon completion, while urging residents to continue providing credible information to aid security operations across Yobe State.
