His defection was announced on Tuesday during plenary when Speaker Tajudeen Abbas read his notification letter before the House.

In the letter, Musa explained that his decision came after “prayerful reflection” and wide-ranging consultations with his constituents, community leaders, and political stakeholders.

“For months, the PDP has been grappling with severe internal rifts, recurring disputes and unresolved crises that have undermined unity, weakened organisational discipline, and hindered its ability to provide credible leadership,” the letter stated.

According to him, the widening divisions in the PDP have strained his ability to fulfill the expectations of the people he represents.

“These circumstances have created an atmosphere that is incompatible with my mandate and the aspirations of my constituency,” he said.

Justifying his preference for the APC, Musa noted that the ruling party provides “a more cohesive and disciplined structure” that aligns with the developmental priorities of his people.

“The APC presents a better-organised platform, one that reflects our constituency’s aspirations and offers the stability required for impactful governance,” he added.

He described the defection as “an act of responsibility,” rooted in principle and driven by his commitment to serve his constituents effectively.

Following the announcement, Speaker Abbas and other lawmakers formally welcomed him into the APC.

Musa requested that his new party affiliation be updated in the House records and invoked divine guidance in the discharge of national duties.

“May the Almighty Allah guide our decisions and strengthen our resolve as we serve the nation,” he wrote.
