Shockwaves As Nnamdi Kanu Unveils ‘Full List’ Of 1996 Coup Conspirators
The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has directed his legal team to take decisive action against anyone labeling the 1966 coup as an “Igbo coup.”....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Kanu made this known during a routine meeting with his legal counsel, led by Special Counsel Aloy Ejimakor, at the Department of State Services (DSS) facility in Abuja.
According to Kanu, the coup was unnecessary, emphasizing that only two individuals of Igbo origin were involved.
Ejimakor, speaking via his X handle, expressed that baseless hatred was a significant factor in Kanu’s prolonged detention.
He stated, “During today’s visitation with #MNK, he instructed us, his lawyers, to take legal action against any person or entity that continues to mischaracterize the 1966 coup as an Igbo coup. The full list of the 1966 coup plotters and their ethnicities is as follows:
- Major Chukwuma Nzeogwu — IGBO
- Major Adewale Ademoyega — YORUBA
- Major E. Ifeajuna — IGBO
- Capt. G. Adeleke — YORUBA
- Capt. Gibson Jalo — BALI
- Capt. Swanton — MIDDLE BELT
- Lt. Fola Oyewole — YORUBA
- Lt. R. Egbiko — ESAN
- Lt. T. Katsina — HAUSA/FULANI
- Lt. O. Olafemiyan — YORUBA
- Lt. Hope Eghagha — URHOBO
- Lt. Dag Warribor — IJAW
- 2nd Lt. Saleh Dambo — HAUSA
- 2nd Lt. John Atom Kpera — TIV
“Of the 14 plotters, only two were Igbo. Why some persist in labeling it an ‘Igbo coup’ remains inexplicable and deeply rooted in prejudice.
“This unjustifiable and baseless hatred is also why Mazi Nnamdi Kanu remains detained without trial. As a true leader, he seeks to ensure no Igbo individual endures similar persecution under Nigeria’s judiciary.”
