Show Proof Or Keep Quiet! – Akpabio Dares Critics Over Alleged Anti-Trump Comment
The President of the Nigerian Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has denied reports alleging that he made a disparaging remark in response to threats issued by United States President Donald Trump.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The controversial statement, circulated by an online media outlet, allegedly quoted Akpabio as insulting Trump and urging him to focus on America’s internal problems.
However, in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Eseme Eyiboh, the Senate President described the publication as a fabrication by mischief-makers bent on creating diplomatic tension.
Akpabio maintained that he never made any such comment, either publicly or privately, and challenged the media platform to produce evidence of the alleged statement.
Eyiboh’s statement read in part:
“Our attention has been drawn to a malicious and entirely fabricated report falsely attributing a reckless statement to the President of the Senate, His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio.
“The post, which reads, ‘The killing is taking place in Nigeria, not in the USA. Trump should focus on America. Nigerians are not complaining about the killings; we are fully satisfied with the condition of Nigeria,’ is a total falsehood designed to sow discord between Senator Akpabio and U.S. President Donald Trump, as well as between Nigeria and its international allies.”
Eyiboh further stressed that Akpabio never made such remarks in any setting, adding that the accompanying photo used by the publisher was misleadingly attached to lend authenticity to a fabricated quote.
“Senator Akpabio is a statesman of global standing and a strong advocate of diplomacy, mutual respect, and international cooperation,” Eyiboh added.
“He holds President Trump in high esteem and would never interfere in the domestic affairs of another nation, nor issue statements beyond the remit of Nigeria’s Executive or foreign policy establishment.”
He described the report as a deliberate act of digital recklessness, aimed at stirring diplomatic misunderstanding and tarnishing the Senate President’s image.
Eyiboh urged the public to disregard the false report, reaffirming that the Office of the Senate President remains committed to truth, transparency, and responsible communication both domestically and internationally.
