Dapo Abiodun, the Governor of Ogun State, was elected as the new chairman of the Southern Governors’ Forum on Monday. Professor Charles Soludo, Governor of Anambra State, emerged as the Vice Chairman. The forum, representing 17 governors from Nigeria’s South-West, South-South, and South-East regions, appointed Abiodun following the passing of former chairman Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State in December last year.
Sixteen governors attended the meeting in Abeokuta, with the exception of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara. Discussions at the closed-door session, held at the Presidential Lodge, focused on various regional issues aimed at strengthening the Southern Governors’ Forum.
