Ajaka’s legal team had previously submitted a 32-ground appeal at the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal. “I am fully committed to continuing the legal battle to reclaim the mandate freely given to us by the people of Kogi State,” Ajaka asserted. He emphasized the importance of upholding their shared struggle, particularly for the marginalized and oppressed citizens of Kogi State, as well as honoring the memory of fallen comrades.
“Our legal team has meticulously prepared thirty-two strong and compelling grounds of appeal, submitted within the stipulated timeframe,” Ajaka affirmed. He expressed confidence in the legal process, ensuring that their appeal will be heard and resolved effectively.
The Kogi State Governorship Election Petition had earlier affirmed Ododo as the victor of the November 11, 2023, gubernatorial contest. The tribunal, led by Justice Ado Birnin-Kudu, dismissed Ajaka’s petition, citing his failure to substantiate claims of electoral irregularities and non-compliance with electoral laws.
Ajaka’s decision to challenge this ruling at the appellate court reflects his determination to seek justice and uphold democratic principles.
