Soyinka Criticizes Obidients Who Naively Enacted The Agenda Of Others Advocating For An Interim Government In Nigeria....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Nobel laureate Prof. Wole Soyinka asserts that some supporters of the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, commonly known as ‘Obidients,’ can be characterized as fascists. Speaking at the launch of his book titled “The Putin Files: Excursions Around The Ideology Of Pain,” Soyinka explained his view during a question-and-answer session. He stated that it was alarming to think that only governments and government agencies could exhibit fascist tendencies.

Soyinka drew a comparison between the #EndSARS protest, which he considered a genuine struggle driven by truth, and the actions of the Obidients. He highlighted how the former President, Muhammadu Buhari, had manipulated the narrative to incite violence against innocent members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) following the presidential election. Soyinka accused certain Obidients, whom he referred to as radicals, of merely following a preconceived agenda established prior to the February 25 election.

Anticipating backlash from Obidients, Soyinka acknowledged the potential online attacks and insults he might face. He challenged them to engage in meaningful discourse instead of resorting to abuse. He also suggested that if they possessed a deeper understanding of the situation, they would be able to make connections and comprehend the larger picture.

Soyinka previously stated in an interview that if Peter Obi were to lose the election, it would be due to the actions of his followers. In response, some Obidients criticized him on social media and in mainstream media outlets. Soyinka, in turn, released a statement titled “Fascism on Course,” highlighting the apparent rise of incipient fascism in the political arena and expressing concern about the generated climate of fear.
