Spell Of Darkness? Traditionalists Insist Alaafin And Ooni Not Acting Freely
The Traditional Religion Worshippers Association of Osun State has alleged that the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade, and the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, may be under a spell.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
According to the association’s president, Oluseyi Atanda, the recurring clashes between the two foremost Yoruba monarchs strongly suggest a spiritual influence at play.
The rivalry resurfaced on Monday after the Alaafin criticised Ooni’s decision to bestow the title of Okanlomo of Yorubaland on businessman Dotun Sanusi.
Speaking with Punch, Atanda revealed that members of the association might need to conduct rituals to restore peace between the royal fathers. He voiced concern over their recent outbursts, warning that close aides of the monarchs should act with caution.
Atanda, a gynaecologist, lamented that two monarchs who openly embrace traditional religion could be embroiled in such a needless quarrel.
He said:
“The two monarchs are traditionalists. We are from the same father. What could have caused the fight? May we not be under a spell in Yorubaland. This may be the handiwork of those who do not want the Yoruba race to unite.
If care is not taken, the conflict could escalate. Before long, some Yoruba kings may align with the Alaafin while others rally behind the Ooni, and that would spark a serious crisis.”
When asked if he believed the monarchs were indeed under a spell, Atanda replied:
“It can be a spell. What exactly is the reason for this quarrel? Both kings are wealthy, influential, and enlightened.”
