Speaking on Thursday while receiving members of the Forum of Former Local Government Chairmen and Councillors at the Government House, Sule stressed that his priority is ensuring that his successor will be capable of delivering on the job and sustaining his administration’s development strides.
“Maybe the person who will be governor has not even started yet. People see my sincerity — I love every one of them and I’m committed to making sure we have somebody who can carry the state forward,” he said.
The governor dismissed claims that he is backing any particular aspirant, describing such allegations as “just grammar” and speculation. He recalled that in 2019, 11 candidates contested, and 10 later rallied behind him, a gesture he remains grateful for.
Sule noted that Nasarawa State has enormous economic potential, citing ongoing projects like the biggest lithium processing plant in Africa, and upcoming facilities in Riri and Amba. He expressed hope that his successor would build on these achievements to attract investment and boost the state’s internally generated revenue.
“At different times, they’ve said I’m supporting Senator Wadada, the Accountant General, or Dr. Faisal Shuaib. None of it is true — it’s all speculation,” he added.
