In the recently published ranking table on FIFA’s official website, the Super Eagles amassed a total of 1,522 points, a notable increase from the 1,474 points they held in December 2023.

This significant advancement propels the Super Eagles to the third position on the African continent, trailing behind Morocco and Senegal, who occupy the 12th and 17th spots respectively with 1,663 and 1,620 points.

Meanwhile, Cote d’Ivoire, the newly-crowned African champions, have also reaped the benefits of their AFCON victory, ascending to the 39th position after climbing 10 spots.

South Africa, the second runners-up in the AFCON tournament, have made considerable progress by moving up 8 places to claim the 58th spot. Conversely, Egypt (36th), Cameroon (51st), and Ghana (67th) experienced declines in their rankings following their early exits from AFCON 2023.

Among the notable climbers in the latest rankings are Angola (93rd, up 24), who reached the quarter-finals of AFCON, and Qatar (37th, up 21), the two-time Asian Cup champions, who recorded the highest points tally (92.04 points) after successfully defending their continental title.

Senegal (17th, up 3) and Tajikistan (99th, up 7) have achieved their best-ever rankings, with the former making strides despite their AFCON Round of 16 elimination, while the latter marks its debut in the top 100 following their maiden Asian Cup campaign.

Several other teams have also showcased remarkable performances, including Equatorial Guinea (79th, up 9), Cabo Verde (65th, up 8), Namibia (107th, up 8), and Mali (47th, up 4), reflecting the dynamic shifts in the global football landscape.
