Super Eagles Star Taiwo Awoniyi Adds Academic Honour To Football Career

Nigeria international striker Taiwo Awoniyi has added another milestone to his football career after graduating with Merit from the PFA Business School.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the 29-year-old footballer completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Global Football Sport Directorship, marking a significant achievement in his development beyond the football pitch.

Awoniyi announced the accomplishment through his Instagram page, describing it as another proud moment in his journey and emphasising the importance of education alongside his professional football career.

“Another proud moment for me off the pitch,” Awoniyi wrote.

“Graduating from the PFA Business School with a Postgraduate Diploma in Global Football Sport Directorship with Merit.

“I have always believed that being a footballer shouldn’t stop you from being a student of the game, and education has become an important part of that journey for me.

“Still playing. Still learning. The journey continues.”

Awoniyi began his professional career at Imperial Academy in Nigeria before moving to Liverpool in 2015. He subsequently featured for several clubs across Europe, including Union Berlin and Nottingham Forest, while also establishing himself as a senior international player for Nigeria.

The striker currently plays for Premier League side Coventry City, having joined the club from Nottingham Forest in August 2026.

His latest qualification adds a notable academic dimension to a football career that has taken him from youth football in Nigeria to professional clubs in Europe and the international stage with the Super Eagles.

Awoniyi’s achievement also reflects his continued commitment to personal development while maintaining his career as a professional footballer, reinforcing his message that his journey involves both playing and learning.
