This motion aims to introduce fresh evidence intended to substantiate the claim that President Bola Tinubu submitted a counterfeit certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as part of his qualification for the presidential election held on February 25, 2023.

The Supreme Court, through a hearing notice provided to the involved parties, has tasked them with presenting arguments before its panel of seven justices. The key issue to be addressed is whether the court possesses the authority to grant this request.

In response to the proceedings held yesterday, the opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), under whose banner Atiku contested the election, expressed optimism about receiving a favorable hearing from the Supreme Court.

Additionally, the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has called on the Supreme Court to dismiss the objections raised by Tinubu and his deputy, Senator Kashim Shettima.

APM’s appeal aims to overturn the judgment of the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC), alleging that it was legally unsound and lacked substance.

Furthermore, attorneys representing the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), who are co-respondents in the motion, will also present their arguments before the court regarding this contentious request.
