The protests ensued in response to the recent Supreme Court ruling that affirmed the election victory of Governor Abdullahi Sule.

The Nigeria Police apprehended and brought charges against the women on Friday afternoon, accusing them of engaging in violent activities, obstructing roads, and causing damage to public property.

According to reports, the demonstrators caused significant traffic disruptions by blocking roads and setting tires ablaze.

Additionally, the court ordered the detention of eight male suspects at the correctional centre, who are facing charges related to road blockades, public disturbances, and destruction of public facilities.

The identities of the individuals in custody have not been disclosed.

The court has scheduled a hearing for their bail applications on Monday, January 21.

Earlier, it was reported that Umar Shehu Nadada, the Commissioner of Police in Nasarawa State, had issued a stern warning against engaging in violence before, during, and after the Supreme Court judgment. The warning was delivered during a peace pact ceremony organized for leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
