Neighbors, curious about Adelayi’s whereabouts after noticing her absence, found her body. One neighbor, who preferred anonymity, mentioned that Adelayi returned from her Ministry of Finance office on March 13, after attending the inauguration of a new Permanent Secretary, only to meet her untimely death.
Another resident stated that the foul odor from the residence attracted attention, leading them to force open the gate and doors under police supervision. They discovered the remains visible through a window, with Adelayi’s car parked inside the compound and her foster daughter missing.
Wunmi, a secondary school student, was withdrawn from Fiwasaye Girls College, Akure, due to medical challenges and transferred to a private school in Akure, where she continued her education up to SS 2.
Adelayi was advised to return the girl to her parents due to the situation, but she refused, believing the girl needed proper medical care.
The Police spokesperson in the state, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, confirmed the incident, stating that the teenager had been arrested, and an investigation is underway.
