She voted at about 8:50 a.m., shortly after polling began, and expressed satisfaction with the large turnout of voters across the area.
Afuye commended residents for coming out in significant numbers to participate in the electoral process, describing their enthusiasm as encouraging and impressive.
“You can see for yourselves how people trooped out to participate in this election. Not only trooping out, but being ready and eager to vote. I am indeed impressed with this conduct of our voters,” she said.
She also noted that reports from other local government areas indicated similarly strong voter participation, attributing it to effective campaign efforts.
“This shows that the rigorous campaigns we carried out have yielded positive results,” she added.
The deputy governor further praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies for what she described as a well-organized and peaceful exercise.
“I have to commend INEC as well as our security agencies. They really prepared for this election. You can see that nobody is being intimidated, and I believe if we continue like this, this election may turn out to be the best in Ekiti history,” she said.
When asked about her expectations for the outcome, Afuye expressed confidence in the re-election of Governor Biodun Oyebanji, stating that his performance would secure him a decisive victory.
“Governor Oyebanji is not only going to win this election, he will win by a wide margin,” she said.
