The Senate on Thursday confirmed Solomon Adodo, along with 18 other nominees submitted by President Bola Tinubu, as members of the North Central Development Commission (NCDC) board. The confirmation followed the review of a report presented by the Senate Committee on the NCDC, chaired by Senator Titus Zam, who represents Benue North-West.

Adodo, who currently serves as President of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), was nominated by Tinubu in May. His nomination, however, sparked protests from indigenous groups in Abuja who, on May 21, stormed the National Assembly demanding that an FCT native be appointed instead.

Senator Zam stated that the committee carefully reviewed the nominees’ credentials and found them competent and qualified to serve.

“After thoroughly evaluating their qualifications, experience, and capabilities, the committee is convinced of their suitability and therefore recommends their confirmation,” he said.

  • Cosmas Akighir (Benue) – Chairman

  • Tsenyil Cyril Yiltsen (Plateau) – Managing Director

  • Dauda Shuaibu Kigbu (Nasarawa)

  • Zakari Haliru Jikantoro (Niger)

  • Suleiman Baba Ali (Kogi)

  • Rev. Bunmi Olusona (Kwara)

  • Umar Ibrahim Mantu (Plateau)

  • Atotse Abraham (Benue)

  • Abdulkadir Usman (North-West)

  • Habu Mamman (North-East)

  • Atinuke Owolabi (South-West)

  • Racheal Kufre Nse (South-South)

  • Boniface Izziogu (South-East)

Additionally, the following were confirmed for executive director positions:

  • James Abel Uloko (Benue) – Executive Director

  • Aishatu Rujui Ibrahim (Nasarawa) – Executive Director

  • Muhammad Bashar (Niger) – Executive Director
