Tension In The Villa: APC Makes Sh*cking Revelation About Tinubu’s 2027 Running Mate

The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ajibola Basiru, has stated that conversations about who will serve as President Bola Tinubu’s running mate in the 2027 election are premature.

In an interview on Channels Television on Friday, Basiru confirmed that the party has already endorsed Tinubu as its presidential candidate for the 2027 polls, citing his track record and wide support within the party.

“As far as we’re concerned, the national summit held at the Presidential Villa endorsed the President based on his performance. A broad spectrum of stakeholders across the APC has overwhelmingly backed him,” Basiru said.

He emphasized that the issue of selecting a vice-presidential candidate will only come into play after the party’s national convention, typically held a year before the general elections. He also clarified that no decision has been made regarding Vice President Kashim Shettima’s position.

Addressing the uproar that occurred during the APC Northeast stakeholders’ meeting in Gombe on June 15—where Tinubu was endorsed without reference to Shettima—Basiru downplayed the controversy, calling it a routine difference of opinion in a democratic environment.

“I was physically present in Gombe. After the summit, we even had a reception at the Government House. Some felt only the president should be endorsed, while others believed Shettima, being from the North-East, should also be recognized. But this is not a crisis,” he said.

He further noted that only the presidential candidate will emerge at the national convention, and the choice of running mate will follow thereafter. “Our party hasn’t taken a position or involved itself in North-East politics concerning the vice presidency,” Basiru concluded.
