A delegation led by Senator Barry Mpigi (Rivers South-East), alongside Senator Allwell Onyesoh (Rivers West) and House Minority Leader Hon. Kingsley Chinda, met with Amaewhule to express solidarity and commitment to his leadership. Other lawmakers, including Hon. Felix Nwaeke, Hon. Victor Obuzor, Hon. Blessing Amadi, Hon. Cyril Hart, and Hon. Dumnamene Dekor, also reiterated their loyalty to Amaewhule.

At a press briefing in Port Harcourt, the lawmakers emphasized that the Supreme Court’s ruling cemented Amaewhule’s position as Speaker and validated the legitimacy of the 27 pro-Wike Assembly members. Speaking on behalf of the group, Chinda urged Governor Fubara to abide by the ruling and refrain from engaging with the faction led by Victor Oko-Jumbo.

He also called on Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun and Rivers State Commissioner of Police Olugbenga Adepoju to enforce the court’s decision.

“With the Governor’s appeal withdrawn and the case dismissed with cost, the ruling by Justice J.K. Omotosho, upheld by the Court of Appeal, now stands as the final judgment. This affirms Rt. Hon. Martins Amaewhule as Speaker and recognizes the 27 lawmakers as the legitimate Rivers State House of Assembly,” Chinda stated.

He further reminded Fubara that his withdrawal notice at the Supreme Court had already acknowledged Amaewhule’s position. Chinda warned that any attempts to recognize another speaker or assembly faction would violate the Supreme Court’s ruling and risk political instability in the state.

He urged all stakeholders to uphold the rule of law and maintain peace in Rivers State’s political affairs.
