Reports indicate that the latest dispute erupted after Udeh-Okoye announced the postponement of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting from March 15 to May 15, 2025. In a swift reaction, Anyanwu countered the announcement in a letter addressed to NEC members, PDP governors, and stakeholders, asserting that Udeh-Okoye is neither the National Secretary nor a member of the National Working Committee (NWC) and, therefore, lacked the authority to make such a declaration.
“Udeh-Okoye is not the National Secretary of our party and was never part of any NWC meeting where he was mandated to issue such a notice,” Anyanwu declared.
The contentious announcement, bearing Udeh-Okoye’s name and designation as PDP National Secretary, was disseminated to the media via the party’s official Publicity Directorate. Anyanwu swiftly issued a memo rejecting Udeh-Okoye’s authority and urging party leaders and the public to disregard the statement.
Anyanwu Accuses Udeh-Okoye of Court Order Violation
Anyanwu further alleged that Udeh-Okoye was in defiance of a court order restraining him from presenting himself as PDP National Secretary until a pending appeal before the Supreme Court is resolved.
“Udeh-Okoye should recognize that he is under a restraining order from a competent court, preventing him from parading himself as the National Secretary of PDP pending the determination of the appeal before the apex court,” Anyanwu stated.
He accused Udeh-Okoye’s actions of constituting contempt of court and a blatant disregard for the rule of law.
“Issuing an official PDP letter under the title of National Secretary is a clear violation of judicial orders and outright defiance of the rule of law,” he added.
Taking a stronger stance, Anyanwu branded Udeh-Okoye a political saboteur and warned against further actions that could destabilize the party.
“It is evident from Udeh-Okoye’s conduct that he is an agent working to destroy the party. He is hereby cautioned to cease any further acts that threaten the peace and stability of the PDP and undermine the judiciary’s integrity,” Anyanwu warned.
