Terrifying Alert: Nigeria Is Under Occupation By Killer Herdsmen – IPOB Legal Spokesman
Ifeanyi Ejiofor, legal counsel to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has decried the alarming surge in violent invasions of communities across Nigeria by armed herdsmen.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
According to reports, Ejiofor emphasized that the continued killings in Plateau, Enugu, Benue, and Delta States demand urgent and decisive intervention from the federal government.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the human rights lawyer accused the government of turning a blind eye to the atrocities, thereby enabling the persistent attacks by the herdsmen.
“Nigeria is currently gripped by a national tragedy – a horrifying and unrelenting wave of bloodshed carried out by marauding Fulani herdsmen. From Plateau to Benue, from Uzo-Uwani in Enugu to parts of Delta, innocent and defenceless citizens are being slaughtered in their ancestral homes. These daily massacres, left unchecked, have reduced the sanctity of life to cold, meaningless statistics.
Behind the numbers are real human stories – mothers, fathers, children, and breadwinners whose lives have been cruelly snatched away. The most recent attack in Plateau reportedly left 52 people dead in a single day, though eyewitnesses claim the toll is even higher. Yet, the government remains silent, offering nothing more than empty statements with no concrete action,” Ejiofor stated.
He urged the federal government to confront the crisis with urgency and uphold its constitutional responsibility to protect lives and property.
“Human life is sacred and cannot be replaced. Sadly, in Nigeria today, it often seems as though cattle are valued more than people. This is a grave indictment on our leadership and a stain on our collective conscience.
The time for mere words has long passed. This is a clarion call for bold and coordinated action from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the governors of the affected states. Their oath of office compels them to act – not out of favor, but out of duty.
The ongoing slaughter of innocent Nigerians by armed herdsmen, and the government’s silence in the face of this horror, is both shameful and unacceptable. Security forces must act with urgency and impartiality. Communities, meanwhile, must begin to take lawful measures to protect themselves from this mounting existential threat,” he added.
