Kwankwaso Raises Alarm: Plateau Becoming Hotbed OF Terror – Calls For Urgent Action After Bokkos, Bassa Killings

Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, former presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has strongly condemned the recent massacre in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.

According to reports, no fewer than 51 people were killed in Zike community, Bassa LGA, on Sunday night by suspected herdsmen. The attack followed closely after a similar onslaught in Bokkos LGA two weeks ago, where over 52 residents were murdered in coordinated invasions on five communities.

In a statement released on Monday, Kwankwaso decried the bloodshed and warned against Plateau State descending once again into a cycle of violence.

“I am deeply pained by the tragic attack on the Zike community in Kimakpa, Kwall district of Bassa LGA, which claimed 51 lives and left many properties destroyed,” he said.

“This horrific incident comes on the heels of another brutal wave of killings in Bokkos, where over 50 innocent people were murdered within a single week.”

Kwankwaso emphasized the need to preserve the hard-earned peace Plateau had enjoyed in recent years, stating, “We must not allow Plateau State to relapse into violence and senseless destruction after years of relative stability.”

He urged the federal government to take immediate and decisive action to curb the rising insecurity across the country.

“The Federal Government must fulfill its constitutional duty of safeguarding the lives and property of all Nigerians. A strong message of peace and coexistence must be promoted not only in Plateau but nationwide,” he stressed.

Offering his condolences to the government and people of Plateau State, Kwankwaso called on authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice.

“I extend my heartfelt sympathies to the victims and families affected by these tragic events. Justice must prevail, and those responsible must be held accountable for these heinous crimes,” he concluded.
