That’s Not Me!’ – Adeleke Reacts To Claims He’ll Deliver Osun For Tinubu In 2027

The Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has said his fear of God would not allow him to make promises he has no intention of fulfilling, insisting that his commitment to deliver the state’s votes to President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election is genuine.

Adeleke made the statement on Sunday while receiving the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ajibola Basiru, who visited him.

The governor, who described President Tinubu as his “dear father,” reaffirmed his loyalty to the President and vowed to ensure that his promise to deliver Osun votes is fulfilled.

“I don’t make empty promises. When I said we will deliver Osun State votes to our dear father, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I mean it 100 per cent,” Adeleke said.

He stressed that politics should be guided by integrity, urging politicians and residents of Osun State to set aside their differences and work collectively in support of the President.

“Politics must be with integrity. We are all from Osun State. Let’s forget our differences and work for the President,” he added.

Adeleke: ‘I Have a Fear of God’

The governor attributed his commitment to keeping political promises to the values instilled in him by his late father.

According to Adeleke, his father, whom he described as a diplomat and labour union politician, consistently taught him and his siblings the importance of keeping their word.

He recalled that his father often reminded them that once a commitment was made, they were expected to do everything possible to honour it.

Adeleke said the lesson had become an important part of his family values and continued to influence his conduct in politics.

“I don’t make empty promises; I don’t play games. That’s not me, because I have a fear of God,” the governor said.

The Osun governor also recalled his role in political discussions that preceded the emergence of Godswill Akpabio as President of the Senate and Tajudeen Abbas as Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Adeleke said he had given President Tinubu his word at the time that lawmakers from Osun State would support the President’s preferred candidates.

He explained that there were indications that some members of his political group were supporting the former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, for the Senate presidency.

However, Adeleke said he personally engaged lawmakers from Osun State and persuaded them to support Tinubu’s preferred candidates.

According to him, the three senators representing Osun State, alongside members of the House of Representatives from the state, eventually supported Akpabio and Abbas.

He said the experience further reinforced his belief that political commitments must be honoured once they are made.

Adeleke subsequently called on politicians and residents of Osun State to put aside their differences and work together for the development of the state.

He maintained that political disagreements should not prevent stakeholders from supporting policies and initiatives that could improve the lives of residents.

The governor also urged Osun politicians to place the interests of the state above partisan considerations and cooperate on issues that would benefit the people.
