The Nigerian Police Force: A Beginner’s Handbook....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Policing jobs in a country like Nigeria for sixteen years (16 years) is not child play. But as difficult as it may seem, we must contribute our own quarter for the achievement of the present ongoing police Reform of the IGP kayode Adeolu Egbetokun Ph.D. Npm.
With my book to celebrate my I6 years in active service, A 21st century oriented Nigeria police force is achievable.
Choosing to become a police officer was not an easy choice. Policing is a difficult job across the world, and it is more difficult in Nigeria. However difficult as it may seem, it is a clarion call that some must answer. Imagine a city without the police; anarchy and impunity will reign supreme. Hence, the role of men of the Nigeria Police Force in maintaining law and order in Nigeria is important and pivotal, to say the least, for peace and tranquility.
There are books on almost every subject one can think about. Certainly, some books offer valuable lessons on policing globally. But few, if such exist, are books that prepare and sensitise newly enlisted members of the Nigeria Police Force. This book is aimed at preparing new officers for the task ahead, with each chapter offering relevant advice on avoiding the pitfalls many have fallen into.
On several occasions, I have joined other Nigerians to rain abuse on members of the Nigeria Police Force. I have misjudged men of the Nigeria Police Force as lacking professional discipline and contentment.
However, my service to Nigeria through this noble and great institution has compelled me to seek forgiveness from God Almighty for my sins against members of the Nigerian police when I was still a civilian.
I have seen the suffering and sacrifices of Nigeria’s gallant police officers. I have felt their pain, incapacitation, and neglect. I have seen how the public collaborates with the enemies against these gatekeepers. I have seen how the government handicaps the police and forces them to fight insecurity with bare arms.
I have walked and still walking in their shoes; I have seen how officers wake up every day to do the thankless job of protecting the lives and property of the people.
I have witnessed comrades/colleagues fall on the battlefield and to no honour. I have friends rendered useless by the bullets of the enemies to the state’s abandon. I have seen officers burnt alive by the people they are meant to protect. It, therefore, won’t be wrong to conclude that the government and the public have been unfair to the police.
Therefore, the rationale behind putting this book in your hands is to enlighten the public on the need to collaborate with the police and strengthen our collective force against our common enemies.
