Subsequently, she was rushed to Maitama General Hospital, where she was denied treatment due to her inability to provide a police report.
Deeply saddened by this situation, the Senate, led by Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong, introduced a motion to instruct its health and police committees to conduct a comprehensive inquiry into Olorunfemi’s death, with a report due in two weeks.
The Senate also emphasized the need to hold Maitama General Hospital accountable for potential manslaughter charges.
Furthermore, in response to the recent surge in university student abductions across the country, the Senate summoned all the security chiefs.
This decision was reached during Thursday’s plenary session, prompted by a motion put forth by Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’Adua (Katsina Central).
The motion was titled “Kidnapping of University Students in Federal University Dutsinma, Katsina State on Wednesday, October 4th, 2023, and the Increasing Incidences of Kidnapping for Ransom in the Northwest Geopolitical Zone.”
The summoned security chiefs include General Christopher Musa (Chief of Defence Staff), Lt-General Taoreed Lagbaja (Chief of Army Staff), Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar (Chief of Air Staff), and Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla (Chief of Naval Staff).
