They Want A Cash Cow – Nurse Makes Controversial Claims About Men Finding Wives In Africa
A Nigerian nurse based abroad has sparked widespread reactions on social media after criticising men living overseas who reportedly travel to Africa to find wives they expect to relocate abroad and eventually study nursing.
In a viral video, the nurse questioned why some men specifically seek African women with the intention of bringing them overseas to pursue careers in the healthcare sector.
She argued that established professionals working abroad, including nurses, doctors, physician assistants and X-ray technicians, rarely travel to Africa to find wives for the purpose of enrolling them in nursing programmes.
According to her, men who engage in such relationships are often unemployed or unwilling to further their own education, allegedly viewing their prospective wives as future sources of financial support.
“Have you ever seen a nurse or a doctor, a physician assistant, X-ray technician, have you ever seen any of them go back to Africa to go get a wife, to come here to study nursing? I haven’t seen,” she said.
The nurse maintained that financially stable and professionally established individuals generally seek partners within their immediate environments, particularly women with similar educational and social backgrounds.
She further alleged that some men deliberately pursue relationships with African women because they expect them to relocate abroad, study nursing and eventually become responsible for their financial needs.
According to her, such men see marriage as an opportunity to secure a partner who could later become their financial provider, rather than focusing on building their own careers and economic stability.
She also challenged the idea that marriage should be used as a pathway for women seeking opportunities to study or establish themselves abroad.
The nurse advised women interested in pursuing nursing careers overseas to take the initiative and seek admission into nursing schools independently instead of depending on relationships to achieve their ambitions.
Emphasising her point, she urged women to invest in their education and professional development without relying on marriage as a means of securing a future abroad.
Her comments have generated conversations online, with the video drawing attention to discussions about relationships, financial expectations, migration and the motivations behind some cross-border marriages.
