This Is Persecution, Not Justice!” — Sowore Blasts FG Over Nnamdi Kanu’s Ordeal

Speaking on News Central’s Breakfast Central on Friday, the human rights activist criticized the Federal Government for what he called a blatant disregard for justice and due process in Kanu’s case.
Sowore said he was willing to put aside his political differences with former President Goodluck Jonathan and ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar in order to build a united front pushing for Kanu’s release.
“We all know that one of the key principles of justice is a speedy and fair trial. What is happening in Nnamdi Kanu’s case is neither—there’s no real trial, just theatrics,” Sowore said.
“Those of us who have fought for human rights have a duty to tell the truth: Nnamdi Kanu is not being prosecuted, he’s being persecuted.”
The activist disclosed that he had already reached out to Atiku, Jonathan, and several southeastern political figures to support a planned nationwide protest demanding Kanu’s freedom.
“I’ve contacted Atiku through his aide, and I was surprised by how quickly things moved. I also reached out to eastern leaders like the governors of Anambra and Abia, Peter Obi, and Senator Abaribe, though most haven’t responded yet,” he revealed.
Sowore emphasized that his outreach was not politically motivated but driven by principle.
“This isn’t about politics. It’s about justice. I’ll also be reaching out to Goodluck Jonathan to take a stand. No one should turn this into a political game,” he added.
