“A total of three students have sadly passed away, while two others sustained injuries and are currently hospitalized, fighting for their lives. Remarkably, one student survived,” a source disclosed.

Another source indicated that the accident occurred when the driver of the vehicle carrying the students lost control, resulting in a somersault.

Confirming the occurrence, Fredrick Ogiden, the Corps Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Abia State, mentioned that his team swiftly responded to the accident scene. He noted that the vehicle involved was a private ash-colored Toyota Camry.

Ogiden specified that the accident happened along the Okigwe stretch of the Enugu-Umuahia Expressway.

Among the students involved, one identified victim is Favour Okpanku, a 500 Level Medical and Surgery student.
