In a recent development, the Nasarawa State Police Command has successfully detained three individuals suspected of involvement in kidnapping activities within the Karu Local Government Area. DSP Ramhan Nansel, the spokesperson for the command, disclosed this in a statement released on April 23, 2024.
The arrested suspects, identified as Babangida Abdullahi (29), Mohammed Abubakar (27), and Yakubu Sani (30), were apprehended by officers attached to the Mararaba ‘A’ Division of the Nigeria Police.
According to the statement, the trio purportedly conspired and initiated communication with Ibrahim Idris, an uncle to one of the suspects, threatening to abduct him unless a ransom of N2 million was paid.
Feeling the imminent threat of kidnapping, the victim complied with the demands and delivered the specified sum to the designated location. Subsequently, the suspects retrieved the ransom and divided it among themselves.
The statement further elucidated that all three suspects have confessed to their involvement in the criminal act. Law enforcement agencies are currently intensifying efforts to apprehend another member of the syndicate who narrowly evaded capture.
