Three Years Of Back-To-Back Insults’ — Erica Reveals Why She Needed Therapy After BBNaija
Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Erica Nlewedim, has opened up about the emotional toll of her experience on the reality television show and the challenges she faced after leaving the programme.
The actress revealed that she endured years of criticism and online backlash following her exit from the show, eventually prompting her to seek professional help.
Erica made the disclosure during an interview with media personality Toke Makinwa, where she reflected on her time in the BBNaija house, the attention surrounding her disqualification and the pressure she experienced after the show.
According to the actress, the criticism did not end after she left the reality show. She said she was subjected to repeated insults and negative comments online for about three years, making the experience increasingly difficult to cope with.
Erica explained that the prolonged backlash eventually affected her emotional wellbeing and led her to consult a therapist.
She said she received professional support in 2024 as she worked through the emotional impact of her BBNaija experience.
Reflecting on the reality show, Erica said she would not participate in Big Brother Naija again despite acknowledging that the experience had positively changed her financial circumstances.
She said, “I’ll never go to a show like Big Brother Naija again in my life. I’m happy I did it because, of course, it changed my life money-wise, but I’m never doing it again if I’m given the opportunity. I was getting like three years of back-to-back insults. I had to see a therapist because of that show.”
