Timipre Sylva Quits APC, Gives Reason Behind Shock Decision

Former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva, has resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Sylva’s resignation was conveyed in a letter dated August 31, 2026, and addressed to the APC Chairman of Ward 4 in Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the former minister formally communicated his decision to the party through the letter, bringing an end to his membership of the APC.

The development is expected to generate reactions within political circles in Bayelsa State, particularly amid the ongoing political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.

As of the time of filing this report, Sylva had not publicly disclosed further details regarding his next political move or whether he intends to join another political platform.
