President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has explained to Nigerians living in China the reasons behind the recent hike in petrol prices in Nigeria.

As reported by DAILY POST, the price of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) has now risen to between N897 and N1000 per liter. During his concluding visit to China, where he met with Nigerians residing and conducting business there, Tinubu described his trip as “very good and successful.”

Speaking to the Nigerian community, Tinubu attributed the increase in petrol prices to the difficult but necessary decisions made by his administration. “You may have heard about the recent fuel price hikes back home,” he said. “But can we avoid it? Can we build roads like you see here? Can we ensure the kind of reliable electricity you have here?”

The President further explained that basic amenities such as constant water supply, electricity, and quality education—similar to those enjoyed by Nigerians in China—could also be achieved in Nigeria, but only through the sacrifice and cooperation of citizens.

Tinubu emphasized that these reforms, though challenging, are crucial for the long-term development and progress of Nigeria.
