Gbajabiamila, speaking on behalf of the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, explained that Tinubu’s decision to limit Nigeria’s delegation is part of the administration’s broader effort to manage resources wisely and cut governance costs. He emphasized that this measure aims to address concerns about the cost of governance and reduce unnecessary expenditures at international events.
Gbajabiamila also mentioned that the President is attentive to public concerns and is committed to making necessary adjustments. He stressed that only those with legitimate business at the UNGA should travel to the event, highlighting that previous large delegations were sometimes used for personal purposes.
The retreat was designed to enhance coordination and collaboration among government agencies under the State House’s supervision. Gbajabiamila noted that such retreats will be ongoing to adapt to evolving governance needs. He urged all agencies to comply with relevant laws and policies to support President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and meet the expectations of Nigerians.
